The NIIT Institute of Information
Technology announces A 5-Day Intensive Training Program in Basic Embedded Systems Design Offered in Joint Collaboration with Microchip Technology Inc. |
The rapid growth in intelligent devices that we
handle on a daily basis, be it the ubiquitous mobile phone or the car we drive
or the microwave we handle has created a demand for serious embedded systems
developers. The existing skill pool has a huge lacuna that needs to be filled
quickly to sustain the current growth in embedded systems development especially
in the automotive, home entertainment and telecommunication sectors. This
course, the first of a series, aims to address this need. The participants
will be exposed to complete system development involving integrating hardware,
firmware and software and not just learn how to program in assembly.
The salient features of the program are as under -
• A hands on program where participants will learn by working on hardware
and writing embedded software themselves
• The program will cover all aspects of basic embedded systems design
using 8 bit microcontrollers in depth.
• The program will be conducted by working engineers with experience
of a vast number of PIC based microcontroller projects which are deployed
successfully in the field.
• On successful completion of the program participants would be able
to design and implement an 8 bit mixed signal based microcontroller system
• Certification will be provided by The NIIT Institute of Information
Technology in collaboration with Microchip Technology Inc.
The program is focused on building competence vis-à-vis the PIC 16F
series of 8-bit microcontrollers, including the popular 16F72, 16F877A and
16F917.
Objectives
At the end of the program, the participant is expected to:
a. Grasp the depth and width of embedded system design and the opportunities
it offers
b. Understand and use the I/O capabilities, analog-to-digital converter, PWM,
RS-232 interface, SPI and I2C capabilities of an industry standard microcontroller
from Microchip
c. Build a complete working embedded system involving circuit design, firmware
development and software development on the PC to interface with the embedded
system
Who can attend ?
Working professionals such as engineers, software programmers and managers.
Selection Criteria:
Admission Test. The test can be taken on any working
day before 29th April. The candidtes will have to fix an appointment with
the undersined for this test. this 30 minute objective type test would include
questions from basic digital electronics, Boolean logic and arithmetic, Binary
and Hex number systems and basic programming techniques.
Date: 30th April 2007 - 4th May 2007 (5 day workshop)
Programme fee: Rs.12000/- (rupees Twelve thousand only). This fee
includes all training material, lunch and tea on all days.
