Why the ICCS Series?

The ICCS series was started in 1995 with the goal of fostering discussion on Cognitive Systems, a domain of study that transcends the boundaries of traditional disciplines. In ICCS '95, and in the conferences that followed, we saw the coming together of thought leaders in artificial intelligence, linguistics, psychology, philosophy, system and control theory, anthropology, sociology, and neuroscience.

Most conferences focus on specific aspects of cognition-computational, biological, social or psychological-and reduce cognition to small analyzable fragments. This analytical approach, though extremely valuable, runs the risk of missing the forest for the trees. ICCS is designed to try and "put the pieces back together."

About the NIIT Centre for Research in Cognitive Systems (CRCS)

CRCS was established in 1990 for exploring, and contributing to, the nascent field of cognitive systems. The center has three laboratories:

Special Projects Lab that deals with fundamental research in computer science, mathematics and psychology
Human Computer Interactions Lab that works in areas of embedded systems, RF interfaces, biomedical interfaces and edutainment interfaces
Applications Lab that develops and deploys new applications

CRCS has produced several publications, inventions and patents.

CRCS is located within the campus of Indian Institute of Technology, New Delhi, India.
