The Learning
Styles Inventory
|
People react to and learn from situations in different ways. They work and learn better in an environment that matches their way of working and learning. When the environment is conducive be it in a classroom or a workplace it leads to an improvement in the person's performance. Therefore, to optimise the learning of a person it is important to find out his/her characteristic style of learning and then match the learning environment to his/her style. To find the learning styles of people in India, CRCS adapted Kolb's Learning Style Inventory for the Indian population and devised Learning Styles Inventory tests for both adults and children.

The Learning Styles Inventory (LSI) is a test that assesses the characteristic learning style of a person. Once the learning style is identified, the instructional strategies or work practices can be devised to gear towards enhancing the learning or working ability of that person.
CRCS has devised LSI tests for both Indian adults and children on the basis of Kolb's Learning Style Inventory. The children's LSI is a path-breaking application to determine how children learn. We have designed, constructed and validated the test suitable for children ranging from the age group of 5 to 15 years. It is a pictorial test supported by text and is considered to be relevant for children. This test can also be extended to uneducated and illiterate children.
The LSI tests have been found to be highly reliable and valid.
