Mark Reader System

The objective type examinations are now conducted for entrance into many professional courses and for jobs. Candidates sit through these examinations in large numbers. Manual checking of these papers is not only time consuming but can also lead to erroneous marking. To overcome this problem, CRCS developed an Image Processing Mark Reader System to automate the process of checking of the answer paper for objective type tests.

The Image Processing
Mark Reader allows non-optical detection of filled answer options
in an objective type test answer form generated by it. The answer
options can be at any location in the form. The system has reusable
classes with mutually exclusive functionalities and has overcome many
limitations associated with Computer Assisted Assessment. This easy-to-use
system can be personalized and used for the evaluation of objective
type tests.
The IMPRS allows the users to generate and print answer forms in any number and then evaluate them by detecting the marked answer options for any type of objective-test. The system designs an answer form on the basis of information about a test (the number of questions and the number of answer options per question). The form contains a question number followed by answer options. Each answer option is a small square that can be filled by the examinee either by pen or pencil. The marked answer forms are provided to the system as black and white images through an optical scanner. While evaluating the system detects the filled answer options and gives the total score for the examinee on the basis of the scoring key entered into the system.
The system can store the details about the examinees along with their
scores in any file format. These details can be stored in a separate
file for each examinee or in a single file for all. As the questions
can be clubbed to define various categories, the system also provides
for the flexibility of category wise listing of marks. |
