NIIT BOOT-IT
| NIIT is one of the leaders in IT education.
Besides training professionals, it also aims at taking computer literacy
to the masses. With this social cause in mind, CRCS designed BOOT-IT,
a programme to teach the basics of computers to the masses.
|
On the 19th of July 1997,
NIIT launched a 24-episode computer literacy TV programme in India
and simultaneously in Mauritius. The aim of this programme was to
take computer literacy to people’s home free of cost. It was telecasted
four times a week on Doordarshan.
The programme was supplemented by an optional learner’s kit. The kit
included a printed courseware, audio cassettes and a subscription
to Dial-A-Question service. Using this service, a viewer could leave
his/her questions on a voice-mail service and retrieve the answers
on the next day.
