CRCS is well known for break throughs in technology. As a result when Intel launched its processor with the MMX technology, it wanted the Centre to use it for its innovations in the field of multimedia. The research and development at the Centre led to the creation of Destination Earth, the first MMX title in India.

Destination Earth is an immersive educational game created in CRCS. It is a part of NIIT’s LEDA series of multimedia titles for age group 11-14 years. It is an exciting game that takes the user on an absorbing flight through the solar system. Along this journey the user discovers the facts about the solar system.

Destination Earth is the first MMX product made in India and exploits the power of the MMX PC to create an interesting mix of sound, music, graphics, and fast animation. This MMX title is built around DirectX 5.0 and provides full capabilities of user navigation in a 3-dimensional environment and multiple sound channels. This critically involves online rendering of the changing environment, which is exploited completely by this package. The software design also takes advantage of the significant enhancement made in MMX chip with regards to the new set of instructions to process video, audio, and graphics data efficiently. Intel has certified it as authentic MMX title.
